fluorescent yellow (aka "ccff00") (aka "electric lime") is defo the color fam

Been printing a lot and planning outfits to model / photograph. Also making more self promotion stuff and I'm enjoying that. My biggest problem right now for printing is having a proper set up and supplies... like a real heater to cure the paint instead of a hair dryer lol might have to stop by the school to use whatever they have there. I also ordered a single screen printer to hopefully make these new prints a lil neater.

These pants are not finished btw (s/o Andrew for the sick pants lol) and I'm planning on doing something simple for the white hoodie just stuff on the sleeves and hood maybe.

Trying to keep busy

WOW is it hard to stay motivated right now. Anyway, I'm doing my darndest to just do SOMETHING. I feel like I haven't had any 'new' ideas in a while, which I guess is fine since we're getting close to the end anyway...I want to make sure I just have enough things.

I mocked up what I am envisioning for show hanging (not scaled yet).

I've got 3 frames set up now as well displaying the 'cycle' portion of my thesis. I've left the top film for now so the vinyl doesn't get damaged.

Panels and Poems

So the more I kept thinking about the panel idea the more I liked it. I think this will actually be better than the accordion fold on the wall because it will make the two accordion books there own thing. I just threw this together on illustrator to get a feel of what it would look like. I found 4 poems that I think would work because each line can be its own thing and it dose not have to be read all together to be understood like before.
However while I'm still struggling with the type a little, this new panel idea gave me more ideas about how the type could be used. Im going to experiment with the type going across two or three panels and see what happens. I think this idea could bring my project a step forward.

These are the poems that are going to be used:

Old Home
Forgot
Neglected
Left Behind
Now stands alone

Each wall
Each window
Each stain
Each nail
Each paint chip

Rusty
Dirty
Soiled
Blacken
Water drips

Cold
Wet
Some sunlight

big poster, big text, and experimenting with different typefaces.

Used my own text from previous blog posts and took some new photos of a waterfall. More water comparisons. These are 18x24 posters, I need to do something with all of the face content I have but this is what was occupying me this weekend. I would love to see these printed out at scale.

digital drawings update

Layout

I've been trying different methods of which direction I should go about with the book layout. I prefer the poems by itself, so I intend to continue with the process and make a book out of it.

I used my own text from an old blog post.

Finishing the books

Well my plan today was to finish and bind the books. Long story short, the printer in the seminar room was having lots of issues, so I guess it will have to wait. I went ahead and printed everything anyway so I could see size and such again. I can show them on screen tomorrow if anyone would like.

I had 4 books set up, but the 4th one didn't have enough text. So I shrunk down the type a size to bring the book count down to 3. I think odd numbers are better anyway. I am keeping the red cover as I showed before break.

Working on wall piece

Im still trying to figure out how I'm going to put text on my wall piece, to go along with the 3 books.
With this experiment, I tried to but the image in the type, with an opacity layer over it. I think this way it makes the text stand out with out taking away the whole image or hid the text. This would just be one of the 6 wall pieces. There is just one whole poem without this one wall piece. However wondering if people will read it as one whole thing or just pieces and be confused. I also left some pages black to give a brake.

I like this idea but I'm still obviously struggling with it. Im currently struggling with making them all the same size because I really like the big bold text but also the small text is also nice. I might change the font (because its impact and thats kinda ebb) but it will defiantly still be a bold font.

For the wall piece I want 6 accordion folds stack on top of each other on the wall. I want them to offset with each other so you have more of that 3d effect. I do think I want still want to put the vinyl behind it from the floor to the wall with the abstract type from earlier in the semester.
