Brand Identity

$LICK is an indie lifestyle brand that incorporates original artwork with apparel and other products.

The visuals have swirled between smooth astrological vistas and static renderings of color, energy, and light.

The art was heavily stimulated by my passion for music and outer space.

I hope to incorporate my brand into products such as jewellery, glass art, metal work, furniture, ceramics and other lifestyle items.

I made a simple metamorphosis gif of an i and an eye inspired by the books I got in class on Tuesday. This loosely ties to making icons and symbols.

Stage Plan

concept sketches

Some more concept sketches I did of turtles and whales. The sea turtles all hatch around the same time, from tiny holes in the sand, and go toward the ocean instinctively. Whales are social mammals and like to be together.

concept art- possible designs for animals/environment

Some thoughts on early research: animal social phenomena, interactions with nature and the way they think

Migrations of different animal species- penguins, sea turtles, whales

Penguins warm their young by standing on them and tucking them under their fur, males usually take care of babies while females hunt, and then they switch

Emperor penguins are monogamous, but they change mates with the seasons

Penguins are different from other species of birds because they usually only lay one or two eggs per pregnancy, while other birds lay multiple eggs- “parent” penguins form a network of community, and all the parents take care of their children as a group

Sea turtles hatch in the sand all at once and immediately start swimming toward the ocean- this is an innate instinct that they have in order to not be caught by predators

Sometimes babies can get misled by electric light sources around the ocean, such as city lights and other things- they can wander into cities and urban areas if their internal compass is thrown off, leading to death or starvation

Turtles migrate later in life, after reaching the ocean, some migrate to open ocean for feeding grounds while others stay at coastal reefs, or move to mating grounds before going back to their original homes

Some turtles use the earth’s magnetic field to navigate the ocean, instead of using other cues

They also sometimes return to the beach they hatched, which is also an instinct that helps to orient them in their environment

Whales use whale speech to communicate with others underwater, and each species and subtribe of whale has a unique specific sound that helps them locate others of their kind

Different sounds mean different things, and vibrations of the water help to communicate what they are feeling

Whales raise their young from birth, and have a family-like bond with others in their group, and they travel together in groups- they have their own social structure and instinctual habits that help them survive- they also feel complex emotions like grief and sadness with each other, and understand complex ways to relate to each other

Phenomena of nature- fractals (plants, trees, rock formations, snowflakes, etc), lunar and solar events such as eclipses and rainbows, etc
All mammals (except some humans) are colorblind- can see in blue, green, yellow hues but not red/orange

How animals see the world- blue, grey, greens, blurry and not as bright

Morning routine /New Poems

These photo depicts my everyday process of getting ready in the morning, either for school or for work. I always end up leaving my room a complete mess. After an exhausting day of class, depending on how I feel, I immediately clean up or do it later and end up repeating the same cycle the next day.

I've decided that these are my last two poems that I will be making. Last semester I made 8, in total now I've completed 10. My next step is to take part of my poems to create work for it.

Awakening
The wake-up call to find value within my natural beauty
After constant criticism, stigmatization, and stereotypes
I finally understand the purpose of the media
The purpose of societal hate
The conclusion in which portrayed hatred seeks to reach
The acknowledgement of why hate is chosen over truth and love
The picture has become crystal clear
They wonder what I’ve awoken to
What conclusion has my ‘understanding’ and ‘awakening’ brought me
They itch to find the golden answer and meaning between the lines
But ... I digress
I digress from revealing my findings
Because
What good has revelation done to the revealer?
I’ll tell you…
Native Americans

The poem basically explains someone that has found the true meaning behind why there is so much hate for natural beauty and hair, but refuses to reveal their understanding, because what good did it do for the Native Americans, when they took in the settlers and revealed their secrets and used it against them after they give them home and shelter.

Uncovered
Why did she dress in such a manner?
She asked for it
Such an outfit is very provoking you know
Look at how long and silky her hair looks
Long boots, long coat, gloves, and a hat?
She is definitely asking for it

She was fully clothed!
How could someone be provoked by such dress code?
Look how elegant her skin compliments her hair
She didn’t even take time to curl/straighten it
Such a classy women
A bra, flip flops, and no jacket?
She was definitely not asking for it!

Which universe is the current reality of modern day harassment?
Perhaps if we live in an alternate universe
Women would finally be at peace from the male gaze

This poem talks about being harassed

Video Animation

Today I worked on a music video while thinking about what route I want to take next: 1. new stop motion library 2. make the patterns after picking the music 3. work with my existing library. This video is not finished, I would ideally like to add two more layers and adjust the current ones so the forming boxes are more noticeable. This particular song was also a little difficult to work with as all the sounds are very similar when listening at extremely slow speeds.

Abandon House #1 Photography

As I get into more photography, I need to find a theme. I think doing photography of abandon starts to bring out a Sci-fi theme. I was trying to find this theme in the content in Ripley's "Believe it or not" at the beginning of progress.

This is Abandon House #1
Address: Clinton Ave, Danvers, Mass
